Poetic words are rhythmic melodies that calm our restless hearts into a smooth and steady beat of relaxation, romance and/or revelry.
SUBMISSIVENESS!
By Sheryllin White
The examples that were set before me
only displayed ungodly relationships,
displayed selfish actions, and
highly vindictive reactions.
They lied, cheated, stole, and
mistreated all that they claimed to love.
There was no unconditional love,
just controlling men who requested
the submission of their women.
They called you a lesbian:
If you wouldn’t submit, if you had
opinionatedness, a career, highly educated, and
made money, purchased property –
all without a man with your own money.
These examples were the alleged Christian men
my relatives, the husbands of my cousins, and my uncles –
pertaining to most of the men of my extended family –
generations and generations of men.
Nowhere did I see Godly unconditional love.
Nowhere did I see anyone request it,
anyone expect it, anyone believe that
this was the type of love that they were
worthy of receiving from their mate.
I saw the men dishonoring women, and
the women taking it. They stayed
for their children. They stayed:
too afraid to be alone,
too afraid of what others would say,
too afraid to try life on their own,
too afraid to ask for what they are worthy of –
all that they desire, and how God defines love.
The examples that were set before me
were of men hating women. In public,
they ridiculed their wives and
even called them stupid.
Laughed at the mistakes that they made,
humiliated them, demanded that they submit, and
if not they, then, began to hit them, fight them –
assault and batter them – or to hit and miss.
In public, they brought their mistresses and
their whores, when their wives were away, and
even, in the presence of their spouses,
their offspring, friends and extended family.
They didn’t care what people would say.
Their babies’ mommas that they talked about:
the women that would lay down with them,
create babies with them, who wouldn’t marry him,
or they wouldn’t marry them, to them it was
all just a mistake that made them feel like
a man who was spreading his seed –
multiply and create was all their motto.
The ones who didn’t marry or who married and
their wives left them, what an embarrassment, and
gigolos some became or they played life’s games
with whores. Where was their Godliness in all of this?
Didn’t they know that God was watching them?
Some said, “God’s too busy to
notice all of this – God forgives!”
And, on their knees they would fall.
Some would choose to testify.
Did they think that this was a life of bliss –
to be tempted by evil and sin, and
to believe God would forgive them
over and over again in all of this?
Did they believe God would say,
“Just enjoy it all, fall on your knees, and,
then ask God for forgiveness.”
Some called themselves “sinners” anyway.
They said that God knew that this was man’s nature.
That they didn’t have control, that nature
had taken over them, and manipulated them to sin.
Oh! But, good God would forgive them in the end.
Some older men wanted younger women
to request of them their submission.
They found it easiest to control these younger girls,
to have them buy into the conquest of their nature, and
to relinquish their consciousness – in submission!
The examples that were set before me,
they only wrecked havoc on me, and my generation.
When most of my great uncles
were men, in their mid-twenties,
impregnating girls who just reached their
teens, they met them at church camps
and Christian Church conventions.
Shot gun weddings were the thing of the past.
Some even had several of their babies’ mommas
to choose from. Statutory rape?
Where is this allowed in Godly religion?
These men with child brides,
they could do whatever they wanted to,
they could lie and cheat, and get away with it
because the church saw these young girls as
little whores who tempted these men to evil.
They said it was the “Eve” complex.
So, the man was freed from guilt
and the young woman carried it.
And, the nature of man was to sleep with these
“young promiscuous girls” who they saw as tempting
whores to maybe marry one, but to be free –
free to take advantage of all temptations.
Yet, they were married!
Some of the women stayed and waited for
these men to grow up – to grow out of their
ungodliness. Well, some men did change
after thirty to forty years of marriage.
They laid down their whoring years. But,
more of the women in the younger generations
they fought and got their education,
then, left him to his loneliness.
What confuses me most is that
most of my generation, too, fell for
all of this mess and confusion.
Not me! No Way!
These examples that were set before me ...,
it didn’t make me hate men.
It didn’t make me not want to marry.
It just gave me the reasons to
investigate the relationships all around me,
to not settle for their wrong, to know that
my God didn’t create any of their mess,
to know that their lives are not a reflection of
God’s best. My God desires far more
for me and you – you and Me!
In the examples that were set before me,
the women confused me: Some lived
in a state of consciousness, but others rallied in
unconsciousness. Asleep? No! Just
mentally unaware of the life surrounding them,
and God’s love that encompasses them.
Yes! They got the man, they seduced him,
got him to marry them, but he
wasn’t what they wanted in the end.
Or, they just settled for him anyway.
To get the man, any man,
what price did they all pay?
For those that got out,
their lives improved substantially.
For those that stayed,
they changed over time.
The women got more confident.
The men got more submissive.

- SCRIPTURE -
"A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire. He rages against all wise judgment. A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart. When the wicked comes, contempt comes also; and with dishonor comes reproach. The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook. It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, or to overthrow the righteous in judgment. A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, and they go down into the inmost body.”
