Parenting 112: Let's Make Sure That Our Children Are Carrying The Right ...

  •

    Parenting 112

Remember back in the day when you had to sit in church all day on Sundays and, then, of course, Bible study evenings, the choir rehearsal on Saturdays and the evening weekday adult choir rehearsal meetings or women’s fellowship meetings and attending with your parent(s) or grandparents?

What I remember most was my restlessness as a child.  I remember being bored at that time!  We were instructed to listen and not read, doodle, complete assignments or create, but to only listen to the speaker quietly.  This is where the stifling of the mental capacity of a brilliant young mind begins for some.  Brilliant young minds have the capacity to do multiple learning tasks and some at the same time exceptionally well.  This is one of the determining factors on how a parent can tell if their child is a genius.  Your children can read their books or the Bible or the hymnal while listening to the message.  They can do their homework and listen.

There was this dumbing down to tell children that they can only do one thing at a time … that is a special education or slow learner child and not a brilliant gifted child.  There is a difference!

My siblings and I fought that compliancy!  We were not defiant!  We could repeat what was said by the ministerial staff and still do other things.

I witnessed the trivial probes of other youths’ minds during those periods and far too often there was a frivolity to where their minds wondered.  Focused on increasing my mind’s wisdom and knowledge was more to my advantage than the dillydally of those with limited exposure to the value of not engaging in idle mind activities.  Idle minds are too easily influenced by wrong, disruptive peers and circumstances.

Simply armed with a pad and pen or pencil, I could create stories, poems, songs, lyrics and future life goals and aspirations.  With a book, I could travel the world and increase my vocabulary skills.  With the treasure trove of things within my book bag/ backpack my creativity soared.

How do you tap into your children’s genius?  How are you stimulating from infancy that your children learn to multitask?  How are you stimulating your children’s learning modalities:  auditory (hearing), visual (seeing) and kinesthetic (touching)?

Some grandparent(s) took issue but my educator mother stimulated all of our senses and modalities for learning and multitasking. Wherever we went we always had a book to read and other learning aids.  We were never bored and always creating our best selves.

We also engaged in crocheting and other hand-eye coordinated activities that we could do in the car and while waiting or listening tentatively during instruction.  From all of our experiences and exposure our creativity was allowed to flourish!

How are you encouraging your children’s minds to grow?  What is their book bag or backpack filled with and does it go wherever they go?  Are you a proponent of idle minds or creative mind growth through what’s carried by your “on-the-go-children”?

Think about the adult poolside or beachside bag filled with all the necessities to discover your best self and to learn more because this is what your children need to carry with them throughout their student years of study.

Let’s Make Sure That Our Children Are Carrying The Right Tools With Them Wherever They Go!

Let’s Create Those Types Of “Educational Backpacks For Our Children

To Empower Them To A Better Future!”
